Okay – so about 6 weeks ago, I posted this journey and am excited to post that tomorrow marks the last, day of phase 1 – completing the Foundations of Stand Up class. Overall, I had a great time with the class. I think it was exactly what I wanted to get this process started. Some…well…foundation. It’s not advanced physics, but it was very interesting deconstructing the basics of stand up, watching examples, and practicing. And as I move to the next piece of the process, I feel a lot more prepared. What’s next? Nothing out of this world, but the next step is to continue writing and to go out to see what some of the Open Mics are like around the city or whereever. Just more practice. But the challenge will be to continue momentum without the built in weekly check in.
So, the immediate ‘what’s next’ is tomorrow’s last class which is a Class Showcase Performance. Each member of the class will be working on performing 5 minutes (or less) and the public is welcome. So if you know me and are interested in checking things out tomorrow night, February 11th, then I want to invite you to come down and watch. There’s cover charge / admission price. Show starts at 7:00 pm sharp.
The performance will be on the main stage at The Annoyance Theatre and Bar located at 851 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657. This is basically Clark and Belmont. About 1/4-1/2 block West of Clark. The theatre / bar is on the second floor and there are elevators. Parking, well, it’s Belmont and Clark. Should be a fair enough of metered spots though.
Hope to see you and looking forward to the next step!
