Already the journey is morphing as I learn more about the path. The larger context for single-use plastic reduction is “zero-waste.” This is a better focus, I’m finding because going after single-use plastic alone would be daunting and require me to be disciplined and acquire new habits that border in the OCD and probably aren’t sustainable. I mean after I recycle, re-use, and avoid, the next steps are daunting. Take garbage bags for example. There are compostable garbage bags but then I’d need to shlep them to a facility. Will I really do that? If I expand to zero waste, I will be able to focus on things like not buying new stuff for a period of time, reducing paper waste… stuff like that there. Here’s a link:
