The challenge of this journey is to keep the goal front and center and at the same time not to get obsessive about it. Also not to get hopeless about it: like, “in the end, what difference will it really make if I don’t buy this particular thing?”
The practice is to think: is there plastic involved? Is there waste involved that could be avoided. Small steps. Small decisions. Yesterday, I said no to a drink in First Class before the plane took off because I know that before take-off drinks are served in plastic and after take-off it’s glass. I put mushrooms in my mesh bags at Whole Foods — and they looked beautiful to me!
